Bac Cuong Primary school in Lao Cai City has more than 1700 students. Each class has between 30 to 45 students. The school employs 7 English teachers. The school also has an English club, a Vietnamese club, a math club, an art and music club.
my experience in this school
I worked from the End of February until May as a volunteer in Bac Cuong primary school. My role was the Teaching Assistant which included reading dialogues and vocabulary as well as improving the student’s speaking. I worked with grades 1 to 5 in English, Smart math, and science (so math and science in English). Usually, I started to work at 7:20 am until 11:00 am in the morning and in the afternoon from 1:50 pm until 4:00 pm. During lunchtime, I went home because GEL is just around the corner and because the canteen was closed. Every week I followed another English Teacher, so I had the chance to get to know almost every class. Being with the other teachers, especially the English teachers, was always really nice and they were really welcoming, in spite of some misunderstandings. Working with the children was truly my highlight, because they were always very sweet and helpful but also curious and sometimes even sassy.
